Showtime! The feature film version of 1980s animated series "Jem and the Holograms" has chosen its band members, according to a tweet from director Jon M. Chu.

The link from Chu's tweet led to a Tumblr page featuring cropped photos of the Holograms' faces, done up in makeup and bright hair colors (in the case of Jem, cotton-candy pink, of course). Below that, Chu named his actresses: Aubrey Peeples (Jem), Stefanie Scott (Kimber), Hayley Kiyoko (Aja) and Aurora Perrineau (Shana).

The young actresses may not have top-line marquee names yet, but they come with well-filled resumes: Peeples appears on "Nashville," Scott starred on "A.N.T. Farm," Perrineau is familiar to "Pretty Little Liars" fans, and Kiyoko is on "The Fosters."

Peeples also posted some pictures of herself and her new co-stars on her Instagram account on Thursday.

"Jem" ran from 1985 to 1988, and told the adventures of Jerrica Benton and her alter ego Jem, the lead singer of The Holograms. The film project was announced March 20 with a major social media imprint. Chu has asked fans of the show and Hasbro toy line to send fan-made art and videos, selections of which have gone up on the movie's Tumblr page

Fans were largely positive with their responses to Chu's cast reveal.

But unsurprisingly, at least one well-informed fan couldn't resist a little criticism.

There is no release date for "Jem and the Holograms" yet.
