Emma Stone is a modern feminist, and what that translated into during a recent Q&A session for "Spider-Man 2" is that she is not afraid to call out her boyfriend and co-star Andrew Garfield on casual remarks about what "feminine" really means.

During the Yahoo! kids' question and answer session last week, a boy asked Garfield, who plays Spider-Man, how the web-slinger got his costume. Garfield told the boy, "He made it. He made it with his bare hands. He sewed it; he took some sewing classes...."

Then the actor added, "It's kind of a feminine thing to do, but he really kind of made a very masculine costume out of a very feminine kind of....."

That sparked Stone, who turned and asked, "It's feminine how?"

The audience and the duo's co-star Jamie Foxx (who was also part of the session) made little gasping noises as Garfield spluttered, "It's feminine in the sense... It's amazing how you took that as an insult."

"I'm not taking it as an insult," she told him coolly. "I'm asking how it's feminine."

"It’s feminine because it's ... I would say that femininity is about more delicacy and precision and detailed work and craftsmanship, like my mother, she’s an amazing craftsman," he said. "She in fact made my first Spider-Man costume when I was 3 so I use it as a compliment ... not just in complimenting women but in men as well. We all have feminine in us, young men."

"Not me," said Foxx.

"Thankfully, they're still together. They worked it out," said TODAY's Tamron Hall on Wednesday.

"After a night on the couch," added Matt Lauer.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is in theaters on May 2.
