Jackie Lomax, a British singer and guitarist who recorded with Eric Clapton and three of the Beatles, died of cancer on Sunday at age 69 in England, his website announced.

"Three generations of the Lomax family were there to mourn the passing not just of a wonderful singer, songwriter and musician, but of a father, grandfather, a friend and partner," the site reported. "Jackie deeply appreciated the fans who followed him throughout his 50-year career and his family and friends would like to thank each and every one of you for your support and loyalty."

Lomax didn't have the success of Clapton and Beatles George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, all of whom performed with him on "Sour Milk Sea," his 1968 debut single, which was written by Harrison.

Lomax performed with numerous bands, although the two best-known may be the Undertakers and the Lomax Alliance. His latest album, "Against All Odds," is due out in a few months.

According to the New York Times, he is survived by three daughters, five grandchildren, and his stepson, the photographer Terry Richardson.

A funeral and a rock gig-style memorial service will be held in Liverpool, Rolling Stone reported.
