Yes, he's going to be a daddy! Simon Cowell spoke with the BBC on the red carpet of the London premiere of "One Direction: This is Us" Tuesday, and confirmed his impending fatherhood.

"I'm proud to be a dad," the "X Factor" creator and judge said, speaking for the first time about becoming a parent. Though the video does not explicitly link Cowell's comments to the pregnancy of Lauren Silverman — the wife of Cowell's friend Andrew Silverman — the inference is that she is the mother-to-be he's referring to.

"It's something I hadn't thought of before," he added, when asked by the BBC's Lizo Mzimba about what it means to him. "And now I know, I feel good about it. She's a very special girl."

He "can't say" whether the child is a boy or a girl, however.

The 36-year-old Silverman has been the topic of rumors for weeks, with rumors of Cowell's relationship with her becoming fodder for speculation. Silverman, 36, is getting divorced from her husband, and it was their court papers, which named Cowell as a co-respondent, that pointed reporters to the likely connection.

"Things are changing in my life right now," said Cowell, "for the better."
