Royal-watchers finally get to hear Nicole Kidman deliver lines as Princess Grace in the new U.K. trailer for "Grace of Monaco." (She was seen, but not heard in the earlier trailer.)

And, well, just what is that accent Kidman is using? She was born in Hawaii and raised in Australia, though she's done an American accent in many movies. Grace Kelly was born and raised in Philadelphia, though she became comfortable in French after marrying Monaco's Prince Rainier, and always had a very precise way of speaking.

Yet Kidman's accent sounds British, perhaps with an edge of Sydney, to some watchers.

"Isn't Grace Kelly from Pennsylvania?" wrote one Jezebel commenter. "I didn't know she spoke like a Brit."

Another responded, "She was from PA, but she also took great lengths to sound more cultured and even a tiny bit British. I didn't really think this accent sounded British. It sounds exactly like every Nicole Kidman American accent. It doesn't sound like Grace Kelly's accent at all."

Watch the real Kelly's 1955 Oscar acceptance speech and see if Kidman's accent matches up for you.

In the trailer, Kelly is seen longing to return to her acting days after director Alfred Hitchcock offers her the lead in his 1962 film "Marnie," a part which eventually went to Tippi Hedren. And she's also seen speeding along the swooping roads of Monaco, in a sad foreshadowing for those in the know, since Kelly was killed while driving with daughter Stephanie on a winding mountainside road on the French side of the border. She reportedly suffered a stroke while driving, but conspiracy theories about her early death still abound.

"Grace of Monaco" will open at the Cannes Film Festival in France on March 14, with no U.S. release date set.
