Just who is actor Mark Feuerstein? Seems there’s some confusion. When the “Royal Pains” star isn’t being mistaken for the physician he plays on TV, he’s getting falsely accused of stealing food trash.

In a spirited chat on TODAY Tuesday, Feuerstein said he’s always on call — even when he’s not playing his character of Dr. Hank Lawson, the "medical MacGyver" of the Hamptons.

“People still come up to me and go, ‘Hey, Doc, I broke my arm! Hey, Doc, can ya help me out? I got a bee sting!’” Feuerstein laughed. “And I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m not a real doctor.’”

Joking, he added, “Sometimes I just stall ... while they’re in pain for, like, five minutes.”

Feuerstein said he likes to practice his lines for the hit series while wandering the streets, a habit that once led to another case of mistaken identity.

“I was in the back of a building,” he recalled. “(A) woman comes out and goes, ‘Excuse me, are you the gentleman who’s been eating the chicken carcasses out of our Dumpster?’”

Feuerstein wasn’t, though the actor did admit to TODAY that he ate raw eggs for two years after watching “Rocky.”

Perhaps that’s what brought him out of his shell. TODAY’s Al Roker observed that the actor has so much energy “he’s about to explode.”

“Royal Pains” returns to USA Network Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
