“American Idol” fans already missing this season’s sentimental favorite will soon have a chance to see Chris Medina sing again. The former “Idol” hopeful is scheduled to perform on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” Friday.

Medina, who first made his mark with audiences after sharing the story of his disabled fiancée and his devotion to her, left the talent competition Wednesday night when a teary-eyed Jennifer Lopez announced that he didn’t make the cut. Despite that, it seems Medina may still have a music career ahead of him.

For his upcoming “Tonight Show” spot, Medina will sing “What Are Words,” a song inspired by his love story and written by songwriting legend Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.

The track is already available for purchase online.
