Pow! Fresh footage unveiled for 'Batkid Begins' at Comic-Con

Batkid is coming ... to a theater near you! At least, that's what filmmakers are hoping with plans for a documentary about the 2013 viral event that touched the nation — in which a leukemia-stricken 5-year-old got to be Batman for a day, courtesy the city of San Francisco. And at Comic-Con Sunday, an expanded trailer gave audiences an early look at what that doc might look and sound like.Filmmak

Filmmaker Dana Nachtman started an Indiegogo campaign on July 15 to help fund "Batkid Begins," and so far has raised just under half of the $100,000 goal. He brought the trailer to the annual sci-fi/fantasy fest in San Diego, and presented it as part of a panel discussion.

"Batkid" would tell the story of Miles Scott, who when he was 5 and dealing with his illness (he's now in remission), asked Make-A-Wish to let him be Batman for a day. That small request spiraled into a news event, ultimately drawing thousands to the streets to watch it unfold; in the end, Scott got a shout-out from President Obama and a thumbs-up from the current Batman, Ben Affleck.

The Indiegogo campaign runs until Aug. 19.
