Charlotte Brosnan, daughter of actor Pierce Brosnan, has died of ovarian cancer at the age of 41.
"On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer," the 60-year-old actor told People. "She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella (14) and Lucas (8), and brothers Christopher and Sean."
In a statement issued Monday night, Brosnan spoke of his daughter's battle with the "wretched disease."
"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity," Brosnan said. "Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences."
Charlotte was born the daughter of David Harris and actress Cassandra Harris. Charlotte's parents divorced in 1978, and two years later, Brosnan married her mother. Following her father's death in 1986, Brosnan adopted Charlotte and her brother Christopher.
Cassandra died of ovarian cancer in 1991. Cassandra's mother -- Charlotte's grandmother -- died of the same disease when Cassandra was just a teenager.
