It didn't go for "a hundred million, trillion, billion dollars," but Pee-wee Herman's awesome red retro beach cruiser bike that co-starred with him in 1985's "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" has sold on eBay

It fetched $36,600, not quite near the sum Herman insisted that he wouldn't even sell it for in the movie, but pretty good for a bike the owner (listed as usmc_vet2008 on eBay) said would come "in pieces."

Fortunately, "everything is there," the listing continued, noting that the buyer purchased it in 2010 for $10,000 and needed to sell it "because my family is getting larger."

In case there was any question of this being the real bike, the seller said it comes with an autographed photo of Herman actor Paul Reubens, a picture of him signing the photo, a certificate of authenticity and Warner Bros. plans and spec sheet for the bike on red cargo boxes. The seller said he was the third owner of the bike.

But why was it in pieces? "I was going to sell it, but a buyer backed out," the seller explained in the listing. "I don't have the time or urge to re assemble it only to take it apart again for the next buyer."

So, assuming the buyer has a knack for putting together bike parts, he or she should have a sweet, sweet ride. But if it does go out in public, an endless bike chain might be a good idea.
