Step by step, the New Kids on the Block are making their way back to pop-culture relevancy. The TV Guide Network has revealed that it ordered the eight-episode reality series "Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block" for its 2014-15 lineup.
The show will follow fans and the 1980s group — comprised of Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood — during a week-long cruise.
NKOTB has been doing concert cruises with fans for five years now, with this year's adventure sailing from New York to Bermuda in June. "Rock This Boat" marks the first time that cameras will capture the experience for a series, according to the network. TVGN is also planning a 30-minute casting special. Wahlberg will executive produce.
Fans of the group were delighted by the news.
Earlier this year, NKOTB announced four concerts to be held in Las Vegas in July. The dates coincide with the group's 30th anniversary.
NKOTB found superstardom in the late '80s with the release of sophomore album "Hangin' Tough's" first single, "Please Don't Go Girl." The group has since sold more than 80 million albums and played sold-out shows worldwide, before their popularity started to wane in the early 1990s.
There is no premiere date yet for "Rock This Boat."
