Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones walked their first red carpet together on Tuesday since splitting last year. The pair attended the opening night of the play "The Library" at The Public Theater in New York.

Douglas, 69, admitted on "The Tonight Show" in October that he and his actress wife were on "a little bit of a break," but sounded optimistic it would not end in divorce. "I'm very hopeful," he told host Jay Leno.

The two married in 2000, and have two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.

Zeta-Jones shared in 2011 that she suffers from bipolar disorder, for which she has sought help. Douglas has also had health issues, revealing in 2010 that he had cancer, which he has since successfully beaten.

The actor went on to win a Golden Globe in January — without the actress by his side at the ceremony — for his portrayal of Liberace in HBO's "Behind the Candelabra."
