Lyricist Gerry Goffin dead at 75: Listen to 9 of his hit songs

Gerry Goffin was a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame songwriter and along with his first wife, Carole King, penned some of the most recognizable songs in pop music history. He died Thursday at the age of 75.

Goffin wrote more than 50 top 40 hits. Let's drop the needle on a slice of that soundtrack, performed by a range of musical talent that includes Aretha Franklin, The Monkees, Donny Osmond and many more.
