Loser castoff says tough trainer helped save her life

Gail Lee's brief "Biggest Loser" stint wasn't an easy one. In the first week of the game, she and her daughter, Lauren, like the other pairs in the competition, were split up. By the second week, trainer Bob Harper declared her his "problem" player.  In week three, Lauren was sent home, and just one week later, Gail joined her.

But while she didn't have much time or much fun on the "Loser" ranch, Gail evidently got just what she needed to kick-start a new way of life.

"I've lost almost 65 pounds," she revealed during a Tuesday morning interview on TODAY.

That means Gail's dropped 40 pounds since leaving the ranch and now weighs in at 257. Given her at-home success so far, she has no regrets about leaving the game early.

"It's worked out beautifully," she explained. "We believe God has us exactly where we're supposed to be. So we're working hard. (Lauren's) running marathons, and I'm swimming and walking in New York City!"

Looking back on her "Loser" experience, Gail even has praise for the trainer who constantly criticized her over sluggish workouts in the gym.

"Bob's an amazing man, and he's helped save my life," she said. "I'm very grateful to him. He and I both didn't understand how my polio from my childhood affected what I was able to do physically."

Now that she knows her limits, she's able to put what she learned from Bob to good use.

See how Gail's former competitors are faring without her when "The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on NBC.
