"While there is never a good time to get news like this, getting it just as we are building our new family is tough in many ways," Jen Arnold told People of her recent cancer diagnosis.

Jen Arnold, one half of TLC's "The Little Couple," has revealed that she has cancer.

The neonatologist, who's shared the emotional ups and downs she and husband Bill Klein have endured on the difficult path to parenthood on their show, spoke to People about her new struggle.

"I have recently been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer and am currently undergoing treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy," she said. "I am very fortunate as the prognosis is good."

But while the prognosis is good, the timing isn't. Arnold and Klein are now parents to two tots — Will, 3, and Zoey, 2 — both of whom they adopted earlier this year.

"While there is never a good time to get news like this, getting it just as we are building our new family is tough in many ways," Arnold explained. "But being surrounded by the love of my husband and our two beautiful children is actually in many ways giving me the strength to fight it even stronger."

Arnold has not revealed the type of cancer she's battling.

In an earlier interview with People, given after she and Klein suffered a miscarriage via surrogate, Arnold reflected on staying strong in the face of difficulties.

"For a lot of people, loss tears them apart," she said. "In general, we are pretty tough people. I feel very lucky and fortunate to have the wonderful life I have. We are good at putting things in perspective because of our life experiences. I am not a person to give up when something is important."
