On Wednesday night, David Letterman celebrated 30 years of making late-night audiences laugh, and he invited friend and frequent guest Howard Stern to share in his trip down memory lane.

"You have gotten so much better looking over the years," Letterman told Stern.

And frankly, truer words were never spoken. To back up his claim, Letterman flashed a photo from Stern's first appearance on the host's old "Late Night" show back in 1984. And, well, see for yourself:

Aging like a fine wine, that one.

In those days, Stern was just flattered to be featured on television in front of a national audience. Of course, now, that's no big deal. The radio legend is poised to take on reality TV hit "America's Got Talent" next season as the newest judge on the panel after all, and he couldn't be happier about it.

"I sit at home and watch these shows like a mental patient," he said of his reality TV obsession. "I watch 'American Idol,' I watch 'The X Factor.' I watch 'The Bachelor.' My TiVO thinks I’m a 35-year-old woman."

As for how he'll fare on "Got Talent," Letterman had a prediction.

"You’re gonna make people cry," the host assured Stern.

Stern disagreed that it was likely, but admitted, "You know I can do it. Lord knows I've done enough of that."

Viewers will have a chance to see that for themselves when the new season of "America's Got Talent" – featuring 100 percent more Stern – premieres in the summer.
