Up until recently, anyone born prior to the mid-eighties probably associated late night television with two names: David Letterman and Jay Leno.
In case there was any question that the stalwarts of late night have some competition and it's here to stay, Emmy chimed in Thursday with it's nominations that snub Letterman and Leno. In the category for Outstanding variety, music or comedy series, the nominee list does include: "The Colbert Report," "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," "Saturday Night Live," "Conan," "Real Time with Bill Maher," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
So what do you think? Is the newest kid on the block, Jimmy Fallon, rightfully rewarded (his Charlie Sheen impersonation might have sealed his nod) and is the relatively low-rated O'Brien really deserving? Or are the politically-skewed shows so different from the pack, that they might warrant their own category?
