So long, Dr. Ray!

Just two and a half seasons after Laurence Fishburne stepped in to fill the crime scene shoes of then-departing “CSI” star William Petersen comes the news that the Oscar-nominated actor is leaving the procedural drama.

According to Deadline.com, Fishburne has decided not to renew his contract with the long-running CBS show and is now expected to return to film work full-time.

The move isn’t exactly a shocker. When Fishburne signed on to play Raymond Langston again last year, he did so for only one more season.

"Nobody expected him to be on the show for 7 years,” an insider told Deadline.com. “It's Laurence Fishburne.”

The lack of star power won’t be the only change “CSI” fans can expect when the show returns. After more than a decade in its Thursday night timeslot, the drama moves to Wednesdays in the fall.
