Some of the world's most memorable models strike a fresh pose alongside celebrated entertainers in a new Harper's Bazaar portfolio dedicated to 19 icons who are "unmistakable, unforgettable and always in fashion."

The images, conceptualized and styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by photographer Sebastian Faena, appear in the September issue of the magazine — Harper's biggest ever. Three different covers in the US will feature singer Lady Gaga, actress Penelope Cruz and model Linda Evangelista.

Evangelista, 49, looks as though her cover was snatched from 20+ years ago, when her multiple magazine appearances made her one of the most recognizable supermodels in the business. Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Tatjana Patitz were also part of that elite group making millions at the time — and lipsynching for George Michael in his "Freedom '90" video.

Others who appear in the gallery include models Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Carolyn Murphy, Stephanie Seymour, Iman, Lauren Hutton, Laetitia Casta, Eva Herzigova, Lara Stone, Gigi Hadid, Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, and Isabeli Fontana. Actresses Brooke Shields, Stacy Martin and Monica Bellucci are also photographed.

Lady Gaga is interviewed by designer Karl Lagerfeld about her career, her fashion and her "sweet and calm" dog, Asia, who appears with her on the cover.

"Even though I’m changing all the time, I’m always thinking of iconography — which is repetition of images — so I’m always different," Gaga says. "I’m in a way wearing the same outfit over and over, but I’m just a different expression of the same woman. When I leave the house, I bear the souls of fashionistas who came before me; I continue to live glamorously to celebrate them. I’m just being me."

The Harper's Bazaar September issue is on newsstands Aug. 19 in the US.
