Kris Humphries continues to delay the divorce his ex Kim Kardashian wants so desperately. It's being reported that the basketball player didn't show up to a mandatory closed-door divorce settlement meeting with Kardashian planned for April 12—and he was apparently still in New York at 1 a.m. the day of the hearing.

In case we didn't make it clear enough with the use of the word "mandatory," Humphries had to be at this meeting. The 28-year-old Brooklyn Nets player had April 11 off from work, so there's no reason that could have conflicted with his need to be in L.A. There also weren't any weather delays in New York City that would have prevented Humphries' flight from getting him to the West Coast on time. So what's the deal?

What this looks like to the outside observer is that Humphries once again is doing everything in his power to prevent his divorce from Kardashian from being finalized any time soon.

For the record, Kardashian arrived to the hearing right on time at 8:30 a.m. It also hasn't been confirmed whether Humphries somehow managed to arrive late or not, People reports. But as TMZ reported that he was indeed a no-show.

We've already listed off some solid reasons for why Humphries should submit to Kardashian's desire for a divorce, but we didn't think we'd have to add "you don't want to piss off a judge" to that list. Unless Humphries has a really, really good reason for why he didn't make it to this meeting, he's going to be in some serious trouble—and that could tilt the court's decision about the divorce in Kardashian's favor.

Considering Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31, 2011, it's time for Humphries to just cave to her desire for their relationship to be officially over and move on with his life. He reportedly has been dragging his feet because he wants Kardashian to admit their marriage was a fraud and then get an annulment instead of a divorce. But how far will he push it?

Whether he's trying to remain in the public eye or just strategizing to get the biggest settlement (or our personal theory: he's secretly still in love with Kim!) is unknown. But we think it's time to let this whole thing go once and for all.
