Kenny Rogers on Dolly Parton: We 'flirted with each other for 30 years'

When Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton decided to make beautiful music together in 1983 with their hit "Islands in the Stream," it led to rumors that their partnership was more than just a country-crossover connection. But was there any truth to it?

"Oh I started that," Rogers joked about the rumors when he sat down with TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager. "I always say we just flirted with each other for 30 years."

And that innocent flirtation continues. Just last year Rogers and Parton reunited in the studio for another single, "You Can't Make Old Friends."

Old friends and old times are on Rogers' mind right now. That's because a new exhibit on the singer-songwriter's life and career is set to open Friday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.
