When you want to give an "attaboy" to some folks, you say "hats off!" In the case of the incredibly talented country singer Kenny Chesney, it's perhaps more appropriate to say "shoes off!"

That's because Chesney's fans are collectively known as "No Shoes Nation." And they've rallied around a great leader — in 20 years of performing, Chesney has racked up more than 25 No. 1 hits (including his latest single "American Kids" from his new album "The Big Revival") and sold more than 30 million albums.

"Every record is different," Chesney said during his visit to TODAY Tuesday. "With this record, I didn't want to repeat myself, but then again I didn't want to alienate my audience either. I wanted to take these songs we made and rattle their cage."

Consider us rattled, Kenny! And, based on what happened on stage, it's probably safe to say that TODAY's Matt Lauer and Hoda Kotb have joined Chesney's "Nation" — both kicked off their shoes in his honor!
