Just days after Kelsey Grammer grabbed headlines by revealing that he considered “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” to be a parting gift from him to his ex-wife Camille, the actor appeared on “Piers Morgan Tonight” Monday to continue his tell-all tale.

“‘The Real Housewives’ was my parting gift to her,” Grammer reiterated. “Now, whether or not it worked out well for her doesn’t matter. It was my way of saying, ‘Look, you always wanted to be famous, here you go.”

According to Grammer, the type of fame the mother of his children landed didn’t really matter. In fact, he told Morgan that fame was what drew her to him in the first place.

"I think she married me because I was 'Frasier,'" he said.

That's why he intended to give her some taste of the public eye before he left her behind.

“Everybody know reality shows aren’t a great way to get famous, but you still get attention, you still get all of those things that come along for the ride, which I think is what she was most interested in,” he said. “And that was the gift, and I knew that when it came up, we’d be saying goodbye. I remember having one conversation where I said, ‘Well, don’t worry about it. After the first season, you can do ‘The Divorced Wives of Beverly Hills’ next season.”

And despite the impression “Real Housewives” viewers may have had when they watched the show last season, Grammer insists his reality star ex brought up the subject of divorce plenty of times, too.

“Camille asked for a divorce from almost the first day that we were married,” he explained. “And I give a piece of advice to women who say, ‘I want a divorce’ as some sort of tactic. If you say ‘I want a divorce' enough times, you’re going to get one.”

The former couple filed for divorce last year, and they’re still embroiled in a contentious custody dispute for the children, Mason, 10 and Jude, 7.
