Kate Upton graces the cover of the June issue of Vogue, and she's not afraid to discuss her shapely figure.

Speaking of the Florida city where she moved to get modeling work, Upton told the magazine, "In Miami, boobs are fantastic. I was so proud of them. I was so excited. Are you kidding?"

The curves were new to Upton. Her sister Christie tells the magazine, "She was stick-thin and flat for the longest time. Sometimes she’d stuff her bra. We all did — with tissue paper or socks."

Upton tells Vogue she developed at age 15, and also shot up to five feet ten. She was also an equestrian, winning American Paint Horse Association world championships before turning 17.

The model, just 20, has been criticized for not being as stick-thin as others in the fashion world, and responded to that in the interview. "It’s kind of funny to think, 'Oh, wow, the news is talking about whether I’m fat or not,' " she said.

"The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change," Upton said. "I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me!"

Although she's on a magazine cover herself, Upton says she wasn't a purchaser of them as a kid.

"I didn’t buy the magazines that had models on the covers, because I didn’t know them," she said. Upton herself uses social media, such as Twitter and Vine, to try and ensure she's not one of those unknowable models. "I think (social media) kind of gives me, as a model, a personality that people can connect with."

The June issue of Vogue goes on sale May 21.
