Men, it's really OK: Even Josh Duhamel and TODAY's Matt Lauer can't help but cry at Nicholas Sparks movies. As both 'fessed up on the plaza Tuesday morning, they both shed a few tears during "The Notebook." Well, time for more hankies, as Duhamel is now starring in the latest adaptation of a Sparks novel, "Safe Haven."

"I don't think we give guys enough credit," said Duhamel, who then admitted he wept during "Notebook."

"Know who cried a lot at 'The Notebook?'" asked Al Roker, and Lauer chuckled.

"I did," said Duhamel, gesturing at Lauer. "And Matt.... We're sensitive souls."

Clearly, there's a lot of weepiness in this sob story, but Duhamel notes that "it's very much a thriller, as much a romantic movie."

And that romance included getting up close and personal on camera with co-star Julianne Hough, who is currently dating Ryan Seacrest.

Duhamel explained he and Seacrest had a little chat prior to the making-out senes. "These movies are very intimate and I just wanted to say, 'Listen, you don't have to worry about anything,'" recalled Duhamel. "Ryan was more cool with it than I was. It was an awkward conversation."

"Safe Haven" opens in theaters on Feb. 14.
