Comedian Joan Rivers' condition "remains serious" but she is "resting comfortably" in a New York City hospital, according to statements released by her daughter, Melissa.

"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world," Melissa Rivers said Friday. "Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."

On Thursday evening, the younger Rivers said her mother was "resting comfortably and is with our family."

Rivers was undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords at Yorkville Endoscopy in Manhattan when complications arose and she had to be transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. Her daughter and grandson, Cooper, took a flight to New York to be with her.

"This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to," hospital rep Sid Dinsay said on Thursday. "Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available."

The health scare comes on the heels of a busy week for the Brooklyn-born funnywoman. Rivers covered the red-carpet looks at Sunday night's VMA ceremony and Monday's Primetime Emmys for a special episode of E!'s "Fashion Police." She also worked on her online talk show, "In Bed With Joan," and made an appearance on QVC.

Here she is with the "Fashion Police" crew two days ago in a photo she shared on Instagram.

And in a flashback to a 1986 interview on TODAY, watch Rivers discuss her drive to be a performer.
