The actor talks about the inspiration for his latest film, “The Five-Year Engagement,” which he also helped write, and explains why co-star Emily Blunt described him as “shameless,” particularly when it comes to being naked on camera.

During an appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" on Tuesday night, Segel said he was told by Universal Studio's president Rob Meyer to lose weight for the role. "I was told that it had to be conceivable that Emily Blunt would ever choose me to be her husband. Which is fair," Segel told Letterman.

Segel, 32, is the writer of the film and said he wrote the role of his wife specifically for Blunt, 29.
