Five “American Idol” hopefuls remain in the competition, and by the end of the day, only four singers will still have a chance to stick around for the finale showdown.

Surely by now, with the end of the season just three weeks away, judge Jennifer Lopez is ready to drop her long-held it’s-anyone’s-game stance and finally pick her favorites.

Or not.

Despite last night’s jaw-dropping performance by Haley Reinhart, the season-long sweep of rocker James Durbin or any number of reasons to love or leave the rest of the current contestants, Lopez just won’t commit to any particular final two paring.

"I don't know, and I'm not making any predictions, but I think what would be exciting is maybe a James Durbin / Haley sing-off. (It) could be pretty exciting,” the singer-actress-producer told MTV News before adding, “Then I think it could be good having Scotty (McCreery) and Lauren (Alaina) — the two country kids battling it out too. So I don't know. But then again, I love Jacob (Lusk), so you never know. It seems like America really loves him too.”

At least the not-so-opinionated judge won’t have to worry about actually deciding any of the vocalists' fates Thursday night, as the voting public will have their say. Still, Lopez will be a little busier than usual during the results show. She's scheduled to perform a song from her new album “Love?" before the unlucky eliminated contestant leaves.
