'Start building your ark now!' Ian Ziering warns that 'Sharknado 2' storm is coming

Inclement weather is on the way! The sequel to last summer's fin-filled TV disaster flick "Sharknado" makes landfall Wednesday night, and according to star Ian Ziering, it's time to take cover.

"Start building your ark now!' he warned during a Tuesday visit to TODAY.

There is one thing "Sharknado 2" viewers don't have to worry about: watching the first film in the franchise. The actor insisted that those hoping to hop on the B-movie bandwagon with the latest installment should be able to follow along just fine.

"You know what to expect," he said. "It's sharks and tornadoes. It's a similar formula (to 'Sharknado') but a different experience."

TODAY viewers will notice a couple of familiar faces sharing that experience. Matt Lauer and Al Roker also star in the epic adventure, delivering the up-to-the-minute reports about the weather phenomenon as it rolls in.

And while the risks reported onscreen aren't real, Ziering faced some genuine peril while shooting. It seems his handy chainsaw, which (spoiler alert!) he used to slice and dice sharks last time, actually nicked him during filming.

"Oh, my God! It was a 4-foot timber saw, weighed about 45 pounds, so wielding through that through the air was pretty formidable in itself," the actor said.

Luckily, the saw didn't cause any lingering damage — to him. You'll have to wait and see what it did to the sharks.

Get ready to dive into the danger and see what the fishy twister has in store for landlubbers this time. "Sharknado 2: The Second One" hits SyFy Wednesday at 9 p.m.
