Heidi and Spencer: It was fake, we're unemployable

In what might be the most unsurprising revelation ever, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are admitting that their shtick was all fake. In an interview with The Daily Beast/Newsweek's Kate Aurthur, the couple told Aurthur that like their staged fights and spontaneous photo opportunities, their most recent stunt -- a divorce -- was not real either. "

"Did you ever break up?" Aurthur asked. "Spencer: 'No." Heidi: "No." Spencer: "Not for one minute." Heidi: "We’ve never even been apart."

At this point, a confession is to be expected: the Speidi machine has sputtered to a halt, leaving both of them unemployable, broke, and living with Pratt's parents. But the reason to read the interview in its entirety is not to just pile on the struggling couple; it's for the more frank moments, like Pratt's better-late-than-never realization that reality fame is not real. "This isn’t a business. That was the big thing I didn’t get: Reality TV is not a career. Anyone who says, 'Oh, you can have a career in reality' -- that is a lie."

"Jersey Shore" kids, take note.
