Haters gonna hate! Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher and more read mean tweets

Celebrities get plenty of praise from adoring fans, but there's another side of the fame game — haters. While Tinseltown stars usually ignore their devoted detractors, some A-listers put their anti-fans in the spotlight recently.

For the latest installment of Jimmy Kimmel's "Mean Tweets," a variety of big- and small-screen celebs gathered to share the un-love.

"There are people who think Julia Roberts is hot," the Oscar-winning actress read from one tweet before adding with a giggle, "Her gigantic mouth looks like it will devour an elephant in one bite."

But "Two and a Half Men" star Ashton Kutcher didn't crack a smile as he read what one person had to say about him.

"Ashton Kutcher needs to get hit by a bus. ASAP," he deadpanned.

The virtual vitriol just kept coming.

"Ethan Hawke seems like a guy who wasn't supposed to be a movie star, but he slipped through the cracks and everyone was just like 'OK,'" Hawke shared.

But that message wasn't so bad compared to the one reserved for street magician David Blaine, who learned he looked like "his voice is putting his face to sleep."

Ouch! No famous face is immune to such comments — not even the famous faces on TODAY.

"(Matt Lauer) should come to Detroit and run full speed into me with his face, " the anchor quoted a non-admirer Friday morning on TODAY. "And then he said something I can't say."

Al Roker read a tweet that said he resembled "a deflated balloon," but according to Carson Daly, Roker is so beloved "it took Al three hours to find something remotely bad."

So, will the Twitter shamers behind the vicious tweets back down now that their sentiments have been made public? Not likely, at least if the reaction of one man — who slammed Mindy Kaling's looks and comedic chops in less than 140 characters — is anything to go by.
