A romantic gesture between Guns N' Roses guitarist Daren Jay "DJ" Ashba involving a private helicopter tour over Las Vegas has reportedly led to an investigation by that city's police department.

Ashba posted a photo of himself and girlfriend Nathalia Henao on Instagram Saturday, wearing helicopter headgear. In the caption, he wrote, "That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx to the Las Vegas Police Dept. for the most amazing helicopter private tour over Vegas! We landed in a field at Police headquarters were I had a table set up covered in roses n a bottle of the bubble stuff...."

He then reported that he proposed to Henao. "It was beautiful she didn't expect a thing," the caption continued, "it was magical." (A later Instagram photo of the couple's hands, featuring the engagement ring, was captioned with "She said yes!!!")

Guns N' Roses' publicist told The Associated Press that the Instagram was valid, adding that the couple met three years ago in Rome and were engaged last Wednesday.

But Ashba's enthusiastic description may have gotten some members of the Las Vegas police department in trouble, since he's saying their ride took place on a police helicopter.

Las Vegas police issued a statement on Saturday which acknowledged that two civilians were given a ride-along in a helicopter, but gave no further details or names. Spokesperson Bill Cassell said, "An internal affairs investigation has been initiated to determine if any department policies or regulations were violated in granting this ride-along."

It's not just a matter of giving out VIP privileges; operating a helicopter costs money, and the LVPD is "cash-strapped," with a $30 million budget hole, reported The Associated Press.
