'The Goonies' coming back again? What we want to see this time around

"Goonies never say die!" — at least that's what pint-sized hero Mikey (Sean Astin) vowed in the beloved 1985 adventure flick. Now, almost 30 years later, it seems Mikey was on to something. "The Goonies" may have taken a break, but they're coming back … probably.

'The Goonies,' which originally starred Kerri Green, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Jonathan Ke Quan, Jeff Cohen, and Martha Plimpton, could return to the big screen for a sequel.

Buzz about a sequel to the kids' classic has reached fever pitch ever since original director Richard Donner spoke about it last week.

In fact, according to Donner, original "Goonies" writer Steven Spielberg is back on board too with a whole new plot.

As for fans of the original film, many of whom believe the full tale has already been told, the news has sparked mixed reactions.

Of course, whether or not fans will be happy in the long run all comes down to what makes it to the big screen this time around.

Here are a couple of elements that have to be there to make the movie work:

The cast of characters
Hey you guys! This movie just won't work without the familiar faces from before.

Donner couldn't confirm if the stars of the first film will be back on board, but he did tell TMZ, "If they have any sense they will. If they don't, they won't."

When the site caught up with star Sean Astin, he told them, "Dick Donner and Steven Spielberg have my heart. They tell me where to show up, and I show up."

Here's hoping Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman feel the same.

The story
While the Goon Docks gang is a must, it's likely enough that the real stars of the story will have to be the next generation of Goonies, and they'll need a pirate-map-worthy adventure of their own to tackle.

The adventure is the easy part though; it's the conflict that will take some finessing. How about bringing back the Fratelli brothers, who've presumably served their time over the last 30 years and are free baddies once again? That would keep the kids busy with the caper and give the grownups a chance for some old-school revenge.

No thank you
There's just one thing the sequel could do without though: the Truffle Shuffle.
