We know, it's been a looooooong time since we saw Daenerys emerge from the fire with her newborn dragons and Ned Stark lose his head (*sob!*), but the wait is finally almost over.
HBO announced Friday that the Emmy-winning fantasy drama based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books is returning for season two on Sunday, April 1, at 9 p.m. But like the first season, it's going to be just 10 episodes.
The new season, filmed in Ireland, will feature returning stars Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow).
The network last month teased the return of the series with a trailer featuring the voice of Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert, laying claim to the coveted Iron Throne. Stephen Dilliane will play Stannis.
