Take heart, “Entourage” fans! While Ari and the gang are due to embark on the eighth and final season of their Hollywood hijinks on Sunday night, the inevitable small screen farewell may not mean the end of the story.
The cast of the HBO dramedy visited TODAY Tuesday morning to tease one big reveal, share their thoughts about the upcoming season and deliver the future forecast for the ensemble effort.
As for that reveal, it’s a doozy. After seven long years of tounge-in-cheek mystery, fans will soon learn the show’s biggest secret — the name of Ari’s wife!
“You know, I can’t tell you,” actor Jeremy Piven told Matt Lauer when asked about Mrs. Ari. But he soon he assured the host that “(her name) will be revealed within the first few episodes.”
Of course, with only an eight-episode season to look forward to, that could put the reveal just as close to the beginning as it would be to the end. With such a short season, it seems like the action is almost over before it starts. Even more so for the stars who finished filming three weeks ago.
“I think it would be impossible to duplicate this experience,” said Kevin Connolly, already looking back on the show. “It’s been so unique, this particular experience. You could go on and do 10 shows, or however many, and win Academy Awards, but it’ll never be as special and unique as this.”
So special that star Adrian Grenier promises that "Entourage" will “persevere."
Connolly agrees.
“We are onboard with (a movie),” the man behind Eric Murphy said. “We’re going to try really hard to make that happen.”
"Entourage" returns to HBO for its final season premiere on July 24 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
