Fan mistakes Mark Wahlberg for Matt Damon, Wahlberg says, 'Close enough'

We've all been there: One actor, for whatever reason, makes us think of another actor, and the next thing we know they're hopelessly confused.

And arguably, Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon are closer than some -- both in their late 30s, both from the Boston area, both good-looking and buff. Both have movies either in or about to hit theaters: Wahlberg's "2 Guns" was tops at the box office last week, and "Elysium" premieres today. (Also, the two co-starred in "The Departed" in 2006.)

And both have a very good sense of humor. Recently, Wahlberg got to show his off with a fan, who screamed "Matt Damon!" at him, then managed to get a photo of herself with her arms wrapped around his waist. She then texted the photo to a friend, who shot back a screen cap of Matt Damon.

"He didn't correct us at all lmao" the fan wrote back. And the whole exchange was captured on an iPhone and ended up on Wahlberg's Facebook page on Tuesday.

"Close enough," wrote Wahlberg.

The fan, reported by Gawker as Angelique Dormevil, eventually wrote on Wahlberg's page, "Sorry for the mistake. My mom and I saw him and I yelled out Matt Damon. I knew all his movies but I confused the two awesome actors."

Matt Damon or Mark Wahlberg? It's all good, apparently.
