Carvey first performed the song on “SNL” in 1986. In that skit, pretentious musician Stevens — recovering from a long bout with substance abuse — visits his record label to share some new compositions. Problem is, he hasn’t written them yet. So Stevens sits at a piano and wings it, offering a melodramatic stream-of-consciousness ditty about a woman who buys and chops a certain cruciferous vegetable.

The song's new orchestral arrangement so lush and lovely, we suspect even the Church Lady would approve.
