Susie Essman, otherwise known as the foul-mouthed, take-no-guff Susie Greene on the HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” couldn’t be happier about the show’s upcoming migration from Los Angeles to New York.

During a Thursday morning visit to TODAY, Essman talked about the summer move and the memorable encounters with her fans that came with it.

“We shot five episodes in New York, which for me, because I live here, it was fantastic,” she explained. “Shooting on the streets — people were going crazy. People were going ‘Larry! Larry!’ He loved it.”

But Larry David wasn’t the only star people on the street were interested in. Essman got her fair share of attention, too — just a very different kind.

“People asked me to curse at them,” she admitted. “People scream at me, ‘Susie, tell me to go blank myself.”

But does she actually take the bait?

“If I’m in the mood,” Essman said with a smile. “Sometimes it’s very cathartic. It’s like, ‘scream at you instead of my kids or my husband?’ It makes my relationships better.”

Still, despite the screaming, Essman assured TODAY hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb that she and Greene aren’t exactly alike.

“I don’t dress like her,” she said. “I’m much nicer and calmer and sweeter than her. However, I think that what we share in common is that we both kind of cut through the crap. We both kind of don’t put up with a lot of stuff … don’t suffer a lot of fools.”

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” moves to Essman’s hometown — and stays there for the season’s final stretch — on Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET.
