Tuesday night's season premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance" had all of the dramatic backstories and daring dance moves that viewers have come to expect from the FOX summer staple. However, the season 10 premiere also included one unexpected moment that had viewers wincing.

During the Los Angeles auditions, we were introduced to 20 year-old Taylor Ward, a former college athlete who gave up her softball scholarship to pursue her dance career. Ward, who told us that her late grandfather used to call her "Tiger," soon proved that she was deserving of the fierce nickname.

While practicing her routine during a break, Ward suffered a nasty injury, dislocating her knee so severely it caused her to fall to the floor. Of course, the injury became even more cringeworthy once the show's editors added a loud crunching sound to the footage, which, of course, was aired at least five times during the segment.

Incredibly, Ward chose to tape up her injured leg and continue with the audition despite the pain, explaining  that this isn't the first time she's dealt with this type of injury.

"It's happened before," she told judge Nigel Lythgoe. "I have loose joints. This time I kind of got to see it sticking out. It's worse than it's ever been."

Ward relied on her upper body strength and healthy leg to get her through her routine, which ended up landing her a spot in the choreography round and later Vegas Week.

"I was nervous about your knee," guest judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson told Ward after her audition. "I was worried it was going to pop out again and I was going to probably throw up if that happened."
