Randy Jackson is speaking up to defend "Idol."

• Things are getting a bit heated between singing competitions "The Voice" and "American Idol." "Voice" coach Adam Levine took a swipe at the ratings juggernaut on Tuesday when he said that the singers the NBC panel wasn't choosing could win "Idol." Now, "Idol" judge Randy Jackson has a few words to say in response. "It's a great thing when talent can be simple, honest and revered as opposed to spinning around with gimmicky chairs," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "Maybe Simon Cowell should have people opening doors. Like, 'Knock, knock; Who's singing? I can't see you!' "

• The remaining “American Idol” contestants have some big help on the way before they head into the final stretch. As host Ryan Seacrest announced Thursday night, James Durbin, Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will soon meet their newest mentor — Lady Gaga. The Grammy-winner will be featured on the show next week.

• Christina Aguilera may have been the first, and as it turned out only, “Voice” star to spin her chair and give ex-“Idol” castoff Frenchie Davis a chance, but Aguilera wasn’t Davis’ first choice. “At first, because I’m such a huge Cee-Lo fan, I was hoping that Cee-Lo would turn around,” the singer confessed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “But when I stripped away my fanaticism and solely looked at it as who could offer me the most as a singer, Christina was absolutely the right choice.”

• It’s Friday, and as such, it’s time to listen to the latest version of the Rebecca Black tune that everyone loves to hate. Only this time, the song is bound to have a few built-in fans thanks to “Glee.” That’s right, Gleeks! The kids from McKinley High have put their special spin on "Friday" for the highly anticipated and already spoilerific prom episode.
