Chris Pratt, America's current best friend, kicked off the 40th season of "Saturday Night Live" late Saturday, poking fun at the seemingly countless Marvel Comic films with a mock trailer skit.

"We don't even need comic books anymore," the movie trailer narrator said. "We made a super hero team by pointing out a bunch of random words in the dictionary."

Pratt himself "starred" in the mock Marvel films, which included "Bus People," "Some Shopping Carts" and even Marvel's version of "Star Wars," where Chris Pratt played Princess Leia.

The season premiere also marked the introduction of Michael Che, who came from a brief stint with "The Daily Show" to become the first black Weekend Update anchor. Che, who anchored along with Colin Jost, was greeted by the Cecily Strong's popular character, "Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party."

Pratt opened the episode with a brief musical number, with a special guest appearance from his wife, Anna Farris, who just a few days ago pranked her husband on "Ellen," leaving Pratt a voicemail that she had gotten arrested.

Ariana Grande was the musical guest of the night, and performed her hit song "Break Free" from her sophomore album "My Everything."

Sarah Silverman returns as host on Oct. 4 along with musical guest Maroon 5, who will be making their fifth appearance on the show.
