Casey Kasem, Legendary Radio Host, Dies at 82

A week after the location of Casey Kasem's remains was called into question by a lawyer for the late radio icon's daughter, the Washington funeral director in charge of his care told NBC News that he wanted to clear up "the insinuation that there’s lost or missing remains."

Kasem died on June 15 in Gig Harbor, Washington after battling Lewy Body dementia for several years. On July 14, Gaffney Funeral Home transported the remains to the airport so that he could be flown to Montreal, Canada, said Corey Gaffney, president of the funeral home.

According to the death certificate, Casey Kasem's body was to be received from Washington by the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home in Montreal. On July 18, a representative told NBC News that the funeral home company did not have the body. But Gaffney called that into question. "If there was a problem, I would have heard from the airline that there’s an issue with the shipment," Gaffney said. "They would have needed to make other arrangements. I received no such phone call."

Gaffney said he asked Casey Kasem's wife, Jean, about her plans for her husband's final resting place in Canada, but she did not say. Neither Jean Kasem nor her attorney have returned several phone calls from NBC News.
