Who says a silent film can't make a little noise in Hollywood?

"The Artist" was favored to win big at Sunday's Academy Awards, and it did just that, claiming five Oscars, including best picture.

The French, mostly silent, mostly black-and-white film seemed to have three strikes against it, but pulled off a big night nonetheless.

In addition to best picture, the film was honored with Oscars for Michel Hazanavicius as best director, Jean Dujardin as best actor, and best costume design and best score.

The film was nominated for 10 Oscars, second only to "Hugo," which was up for 11.

Even Uggie the dog, who was reportedly banned from the Oscar red carpet, had his moment on the stage, wearing a bow tie.

The film had also cleaned up Saturday night at the Independent Spirit Awards, winning for best feature as well as director, cinematographer and actor again for Dujardin.
