What a nice way to start off the post-holiday week: Not only did Ariana Grande get to perform before a crowd of cheering fans on the TODAY plaza Tuesday, but her debut album "Yours Truly," which dropped Tuesday, has already hit No. 1 in the U.S.

"I was hoping that it would do well, but I didn't expect it to go to No. 1 so quickly!" the 20-year-old petite singer with the big voice told Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist, just before launching into her top 10 hit "The Way" (on which rapper Mac Miller joined her) and "Tattooed Heart."

So far, her big pipes and winning ways have been garnering some very positive reviews — she's even been called the next Mariah Carey. And her fans seemed to agree; when given a moment to acknowledge the shouting audience ringing her performance stage, she laughed, "It's amazing, look how cute you are! I love you guys."

The love is clearly mutual.
