'Amazing Racers' lose lead when man has mid-air heart attack

“The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business” got off to a dramatic but slow start for some racers after a medical emergency sent their flight from first place to last.

A group of contestants believed themselves lucky when they landed spots on an early flight to Sydney, Australia — that is until a fellow passenger suffered a heart attack. The unfortunate situation caused the pilot to divert the flight to Honolulu and caused the “Race” hopefuls to fall behind.

Best pals Zev and Justin, who first competed on the show’s 15th season, complained about losing their 90-minute lead. Other players looked equally tense about the delay.

“Seems like the first plane just turned into the second plane,” Justin told the camera. “We went from racing for first to racing for last. That sucks.”

At least one racer realized that things could “suck” much worse — for instance, having a heart attack.

“The most important thing is that the person is fine, and he’s OK,” said Big Easy, of Harlem Globetrotters and season 15 fame.
