Alicia Silverstone came under fire recently when the actress posted a video of herself feeding her son pre-chewed food directly from her mouth. Yet despite all the attention, the actress stands by her motherly decision.

"I wasn't trying to be independent or cause a ruckus -– I'm very glad I did it," the actress said on April 7, reports TheInsider.com.

"People have been feeding their kids that way for thousands of years," the actress said. "It's a weaning process. ... I think it's adorable and I laugh every time he does it."”

Silverstone was speaking at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on a panel to discuss her upcoming film “Vamps," which reunites her with “Clueless” director Amy Heckerling. "Vamps" is supposed to be released in 2012, but has no set release date yet.

“I think it's her child and she's right,” writes reader Sharon Haas on TheInsider's post.”In many cultures it's no big deal. It's not like the world is covered with supermarkets full of baby food with the appropriate feeding number to follow. Women and esp. moms need to be more supportive of each other and stop trying to find a way to undermine each other with criticisms all the time.”
