Alec Baldwin has a new baby — no, not the daughter who was born last month. A new current events and culture talk show, "Up Late w/ Alec Baldwin," to air Fridays at 10 p.m. on MSNBC.

The actor has shown he has a knack for conducting compelling interviews with "Here's the Thing," a podcast he has run on WNYC since 2011.

"After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I've developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented, and engaging people in every imaginable field," Baldwin said in a news release from MNSBC on Thursday. "I’m grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television."

"I've been talking with Alec for a while and can’t wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC," said Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC. "He's got such passion for ideas and what's going on in the world — he's going to be a great addition to our line-up."

Baldwin, 55, starred for seven seasons as Jack Donaghy on the NBC comedy "30 Rock," a role which brought him two Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. He received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for "The Cooler" in 2003.

Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, became parents to a new baby girl, Carmen Gabriela, on Aug. 23.
