Alec Baldwin vented his displeasure on Twitter Tuesday after being arrested in New York for riding his bike against traffic along Fifth Avenue, calling his handcuffing "ridiculous."
A New York Police Department spokesperson told NBC 4 New York that the Emmy-winning actor was given two summonses — one for going the wrong direction, and another for disorderly conduct. A police source said that the actor became angry after he was stopped.
Baldwin shared his side of the story with followers, noting that one of the two officers who stopped him didn't recognize him, though the other did.
The police source told NBC 4 New York that the actor was not carrying identification when he was stopped.
Baldwin also contended that there was no disorderly conduct, and that one of the officers was not telling the truth.
After the incident, the actor said on Twitter that paparazzi were again outside his home, but law enforcement didn't step up to protect his young daughter.
Baldwin has had a number of publicized run-ins with paparazzi in the city, and in February, wrote an essay in New York Magazine's Vulture website saying that he was bidding farewell to public life and possibly New York.
"I just can't live in New York any more," he wrote. "Everything I hated about L.A. I'm beginning to crave. L.A. is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed."
