If Christina Aguilera’s decision to mentor disqualified “American Idol” hopeful Frenchie Davis on the premiere episode of “The Voice” could be seen as a minor slight against the veteran TV talent show’s contestant choices, then Adam Levine’s direct comments on the second episode certainly added up to a major swipe.

According to the Maroon 5 frontman, the singers that make it through on “The Voice” have something over the average “Idol." Heck, he believes that even the vocalists that fail to advance on “The Voice” are at least good enough to take top honors on “Idol.”

"The people that we're not turning our chairs around for could win 'American Idol,'" Levine explained to one of the not-so-lucky few on Tuesday night. "We're looking for that extra thing — that unbelievable, mind-blowing, spectacular thing."

In other words, that "thing" that Levine thinks "Idols" just don't have.
