George Clooney provided a little boost to the news cycle at the end of the week when he was arrested outside of the Sudanese embassy during a protest in Washington.

Let's recap the week that was in entertainment news with 10 clicks.

1. George Clooney spent most of the week talking to everyone who would listen about the humanitarian crisis he has witnessed firsthand in Sudan. The actor/activist even came under rocket fire while he was there, as he told Ann Curry on TODAY on Wednesday. The run of publicity hit its peak on Friday when Clooney and a group of others, including his father Nick, were handcuffed and arrested in front of the Sudanese embassy. They were quickly released.

2. Speaking of dashing leading men sticking their neck out for the common good, "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm made news this week when he basically said Kim Kardashian is an "idiot" and the culture that celebrates her success doesn't make any sense. Kim K. took the high road in a Twitter response later in the week and Hamm said he didn't mean anything personal by any of it.

3. Your real culture click of the week goes to the art researchers and scientists who have uncovered evidence that a fresco by Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci lost for five centuries may still exist behind a wall of Florence's city hall. The project is not without controversy, as holes are being drilled through an existing work of art to look for the da Vinci.

4. The drama ramped up on "American Idol" this week when it was revealed that contestant Jermaine Jones had concealed "multiple crimes" and was therefore disqualified. "Awww I will no longer b on the show," the singer tweeted. He later said he was "shocked" to be off the show.

5. Another reality show dealing with a little dramawas "The Bachelor," as Ben Flajnik had to explain that's he hasn't been hooking up with anyone else since proposing to Courtney Robertson. "Yes, we're together ... I think," Courtney sniffled on the "After the Final Rose" special.

6. The gossip heated up around Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown and whether she was dating Nick Gordon, a man who many say was like a son to Houston. Although he was not legally adopted, sources say Gordon, 22, began living with Houston and her family a decade ago due to family problems of his own.

7. "Luck" ran out for the HBO horse-racing drama this week. The new series starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte was cancelled after a third horse died on the set. "While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future," the show said in a release.

8. An animal of much smaller stature suffered an unfortunate end of its own this week in Germany. An earless bunny named Til was crushed to death under the foot of a camerman who had come to film the animal for a zoo news conference. The mutant rabbit "didn't suffer," said the zoo's director. "It was a direct hit."

9. Who knew that truth was out there? That was the lead this week on the story that former "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson has had numerous relationships with women. "You know, I'm old enough that I can talk about that," she told Out magazine. The twice-divorced Agent Scully has three children.

10. Actor Robert De Niro has been celebrated for his ability to get so deep into character for various roles. Apparently that was the case with "Being Flynn" in which the actor plays a man past his prime, disconnected from his family and living on the streets. De Niro told TODAY that during a break from filming, while still in costume, security at his hotel denied him entry.
